Left St. Louis early this morning.  Was about 7 degrees.  Roads were fine until I got to Tennessee.  North of Nashville there was a stretch of I-24, for about 30 miles, that was solid black ice.  There had been NO salt or sand put down anywhere.  It was unbelievably slippery!!  There were cars and trucks spun out all over the place.  Here are a few photos of a very small sampling of them:

After the road cleared up and there was no ice on it, I found Tennessee's only (apparently) snow plow/sander. Notice how good the road looks here as compared to the road in the above photos.  Also notice that he is sanding a dry road!!  Only government run departments can be this stupid!!

Drove all the way down to Tifton, Georgia to spend the night at the Pilot truck stop. 746 miles today.  Not too shabby considering the big slow down in Tennessee.
