Left St. Louis early this morning. Was about 7 degrees. Roads were fine until I got to Tennessee. North of Nashville there was a stretch of I-24, for about 30 miles, that was solid black ice. There had been NO salt or sand put down anywhere. It was unbelievably slippery!! There were cars and trucks spun out all over the place. Here are a few photos of a very small sampling of them:
After the road cleared up and there was no ice on it, I found Tennessee's only (apparently) snow plow/sander. Notice how good the road looks here as compared to the road in the above photos. Also notice that he is sanding a dry road!! Only government run departments can be this stupid!!
Drove all the way down to Tifton, Georgia to spend the night at the Pilot truck stop. 746 miles today. Not too shabby considering the big slow down in Tennessee.

Left North Platte, Nebraska at about 5 am EST. The weather had improved tremendously. DOT did a good job clearing the interstate. Drove through Iowa and Missouri into East Saint Louis, Illinois. Stopped at the Flying J truck stop for the night.

Woke up this morning to a snow storm in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. Heavy snow and wind blowing real hard. I got a cup of hot chocolate and hit the road. Not too many other vehicles on the road at 3am MST. DOT was not even out yet. Roads were pretty crummy too.
Here is what I-80 looked like when the sun came up in Wyoming.
Watch me make a Wyoming DOT snow plow appear magically out of thin air!
Here is a WYDOT snow plow that you can actually see
It cleared up a bit for a while. Went into Nebraska and it started up again. Here is a Nebraska DOT snow plow doing his thing
The weather continued to get worse.
And worse
Then the snow froze to my windshield wipers and windshield which made seeing anything difficult. This is how it looked through the windshield for the last 20 miles.
Stopped for the night at the Flying J in North Platte, Nebraska.

Here is sunrise in Oregon:
Here is a video of I-84 through the canyon going around the north east side of Salt Lake City, Utah. Sorry, its a bit long.

Drove back in to Seattle and delivered. Waited a couple hours and then got my next load. Picked up in Tacoma, WA. They are closing down a stand alone MRI Center and moving the MRI machine to Port Saint Lucie, Florida. I got 4 of the magnets and a steel ring. Each magnet weighed 10,000 pounds and the ring weighed 4,000 pounds.
Drove to Stanfield, Oregon to a truck stop there for the night.
