Left a half-hour before sunrise this morning.  Had to idle the truck all night because my APU quit working.  After I got up on the Interstate about 5 miles down the road the "Low Coolant" light and alarm went off.  I stopped at the next truck stop and bought and added about a half-gallon of coolant.  Left New Mexico and continued on through Arizona with no problems.  In California going through the Majovie Desert, the outside air temperature was 111° F (44° C).  Up ahead I saw a lot of black smoke.

As I got closer I could see that it was probably a car or truck fire.

As I passed it, it looked more like an RV burning.  It was difficult to tell since there was not much left of whatever it was.

That was the extent of my excitement for today.  Stopped at the TA truck stop in Barstow, California for the night.  Got another 556 miles in today.

Left a half-hour before sunrise this morning.  Went past the world famous Cadilac Ranch just west of Amarillo, Texas.

Had about a half-hour delay from a crash in a construction zone that really screwed up traffic.

Then went over the Continental Divide.
Stopped for the night at the Flying J truck stop in Jamestown, New Mexico.  Spent three hours in the shop getting my trailer lights fixed again.

Left at sunrise this morning.  Not much interesting today.  No traffic issues going through Dallas.  Highly unusual!!!  Stopped for the night at the Pilot truck stop in Childress, Texas.  Did 584 miles today.

It took forever to get my Mississippi permit this morning. Didn't come in until 11:30.  But when it came in, I left. Because of that, I didn't get anywhere near as far as I would have liked.  Stopped for the night at the TA truck stop in Tallulah, Louisiana.

After I got my trailer lights fixed, I left and drove over to Thomasville, Georgia.  Timed it real good.  They were just finishing loading the last of three trucks ahead of me.  When they finished I backed inside the building where they loaded a Cleaver-Brooks Boiler that is going to Pleasanton, California.  That is just east of San Fransisco.  There are two other Daily trucks taking the same thing up there too. I was the first of the three to load.  The second truck arrived as I was pulling out.

Left there and drove to the Oasis truck stop in Robertsdale, Alabama for the night. The air conditioning in the truck stop was broken.  Was not pleasant to eat or take a much-needed shower.  It was damn hot in there!!!  I can sleep in tomorrow.  Don't have a Mississippi permit yet, so I'll wait here until it comes in.

Went over and delivered the wheel loader this morning.  Was back at the Daily yard at 8 am.  Dropped that trailer then moved a few trailers around the yard for the mechanic.  The storm off the coast had virtually little to no effect here.  A couple of brief rain showers but that's all.  Tomorrow I'll head over to Thomasville, Georgia to load a boiler.  Not scheduled to load until 1 pm, so no hurry.
