Got on the road early this morning and left Robertsdale, Alabama.  Excellent driving day.  Sunny, clear and cold.  Temps started out in the 30s and ended up in the 20s.  Was a bit windy though, but no big deal.  My cold is much better today.  Head has pretty much stopped filling up.  Breathing out of both nose holes now. After driving 754 miles today I stopped at the TA truck stop west of St. Louis, Missouri on I-70.  The weather is supposed to get worse.  Will probably drive into snow before I stop tomorrow for a reset.

Got my next load this morning in Adel, GA.  It is 4 PVC pipes that are 53 feet long.  They are going to Bridgeport, Washington.  I love loads like this!!!!

Didn't drive very far today.  Stopped for the night at the Oasis truck stop in Robertsdale, Alabama.

Got on the road at 2:30am EST in heavy fog and drove to Albany, GA and delivered the generators at the Marine base there.  There was so much equipment there, it is absolutely amazing.  Hundreds of billions of dollars worth of stuff all over.  Everything there from tanks to fork lifts!!  I don't know how they keep track of all of it. When I was empty I drove over to the Pilot truck stop for the night.

Didn't get started very early today.  Waited around to see if we could put something else on the truck.  Unfortunately we couldn't so I left Tulsa.  On the way south passed hundreds of Arkansas Razorback fans returning home from their disappointing loss last night in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.  Passed a couple dozen bus loads too.  The semi truck carrying Razorback equipment passed me also.  My head cold is slowly getting better.  Still can't taste anything yet.  Stopped for the night at the TA truck stop in Tallulah, Louisiana.

Didn't get my next load until 10 am local time which was fine with me.  I was glad to sleep in.  My head was full this morning and nothing was moving.  Drove down to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (just outside Tulsa) for my next load.  It is a partial load of 8 generators for the military going to Albany, Georgia.  When finished drove over to the Flying J truck stop in Tulsa for the night.  Going to wait here for a bit to see if we can snag something else to fill up the trailer.  By the end of the day my head was draining again and I was feeling a bit better.

Monday, January 3, 2011

Drove up to Independence, Kansas this morning.  It was only 35 miles up the road.  When I got there they didn't know how they were going to get this thing off the trailer.  Waited all day till they figured it out.  Finally backed into the building to unload.  That was fun.  The doorway was 12 feet wide and so was the load.  Wiggled it and used a little KY Jelly (just kidding about the KY Jelly) and got it in there.   That was the tightest doorway  I have backed into so far.   Don't think it can get any tighter.  About a quarter inch clearance on each side.  What made it even more interesting was that I did it blind.  Could not see because my mirrors didn't stick out far enough to see back there.  They lifted the thing off and I pulled back out with an empty trailer.  Too late to get another load today, and that was fine with me.  This head cold has kicked in good today and zapped my energy.  Drove around the corner to a small convenience store with a few spaces to park big trucks. Staying there for the night.  Walked across the street to Wal-Mart and restocked my Puffs tissue supply since I'm going through them pretty fast.  Also got some cold medicine and chicken soup. Feels good to lay down.
