I left early this morning and was at the Kansas City, Missouri, Caterpillar dealer and unloaded before they got to work.  When they got there, I got my paperwork signed and headed to Creve Couer, Illinois, for my next load.  I made it just in time!!  I was the last one they loaded there today.  Loaded a Caterpillar D6 Dozer that is going to Topeka, Kansas.

Since my permits don't start until tomorrow, I sneaked over to the Daily Terminal in Morton, Illinois, for the night. 461 miles today.

Tuesday, January 6, 2026

I went over to Caterpillar for my 11:30 AM loading appointment.  When they looked at what I was supposed to get, they saw that there was no way to get 11 pieces on my trailer.  So Caterpillar Transportation had to get involved, and the load had to be made smaller.  Eventually, they got it figured out, and I got loaded with parts for a Caterpillar 995 Wheel Loader that are going to the Port of Baltimore. The largest part is the radiator.

This is what a 995 looks like when it is fully assembled.

I left there but didn't go very far.  Stopped for my 10 hours at the Pilot truck stop in Oakwood, Illinois.

Monday, January 5, 2026

At about 3 AM I went and got the truck washed.  My next load is tomorrow in Decatur, Illinois.  Doesn't load until 11:30 AM.  At about 10 this morning, I left and drove down to the Pilot truck stop in Decatur for the night.

Friday, January 2, 2026

I left at 3 AM EST this morning.  Drove to Fenton, Missouri, and delivered the excavator.  Don't have another load yet, so I headed for the most likely area to get one.  I went to the Iowa 80 truck stop in Walcott, Iowa.  That puts me in the middle of Caterpillar and John Deere. 577 miles today.   While doing my post-trip inspection, I found a hole with the cords showing in my right front tire.

I also found a coolant leak.  Had to add a half gallon of coolant.  There was coolant all over the back of the truck.

I checked in at the repair shop and waited for them to call me to bring the truck in to the shop.

At 5:15, they brought my truck into the shop to start working on it.  At 7:15 they were finished.

I left the Daily terminal at 7 PM EST and drove all night.  No traffic problems anywhere.  Went passed a fatal crash just south (or east) of Nashville on I-24.  It was on the other side of the interstate, so it didn't affect me.  They had that side shut down and were diverting all traffic over there off the interstate.  I stopped at the Flying J truck stop after driving 640 miles.

Drove to Fenton, Missouri, and delivered the track loader.  I went straight to the TA truck stop in Troy, Illinois, after delivering. When I got there, I had only 16 minutes left on my clock for today.  675 miles today.  I'm tired.  Good night.

Left there around noon.  Still raining.  Drove to the Petro truck stop in Beaumont, Texas, for my 10 hours and a much-needed hot shower!!!

Wednesday, November 26, 2025

I left at about 11:30 PM CST and drove the rest of the way to Laredo, TX.  I got there around 6 AM.  Found out that they don't accept deliveries until 9.  While sitting there waiting, I took off most of my securement stuff.  Two other trucks arrived and parked behind me.  At 9:10, a guy came out and said that this stuff was too big for this location and directed me to another place about 20 minutes away. While I was putting on the securement stuff I had just removed, the other two trucks took off and went to the other site.   When I got there, I was now last in line to get unloaded.  I left there at about noon-30.  Since I had no more hours left for today, I went to the TA truck stop just down the road.  When I tried to get fuel, the buttons on the pump didn't work, so I'll get fuel somewhere else.  I'm tired, aggravated, phone is off, good night.

Thursday, November 20, 2025

I left at about 2 AM EST and drove the rest of the way down to South Bay, Florida.  I arrived at 5:45 AM. They are making a 16-mile dam and reservoir there.  The project is massively huge!!!!  They were not ready for us when we arrived.  They didn't have anything big enough to lift the counterweight.  They tried with a Caterpillar 966 Wheel Loader that had fork attachment on it.  When they lifted it, the counterweight didn't move, but the back wheels of the wheel loader came up off the ground.  SO, I had to wait while they called something to come and lift it.  At about noon, they finally lifted the counterweight off my trailer, and I left.  Stopped for the night at the TA truck stop in Vero Beach, FL, because I was just about out of hours for today.  Burned up too many sitting around waiting.  I load tomorrow in Brunswick, Georgia.

Wednesday, November 19, 2025

This morning, I went to League City, TX, for my 10 AM CST loading appointment.  Loaded a 30,000-pound counterweight for a Komatsu PC900 Excavator.  It is going to South Bay, Florida.

This is an internet photo of the machine this counterweight attaches.  The machine is so big that it has to be totally disassembled to transport it.

I left there and drove to the TA truck stop in Lafayette, Louisiana, for my 10 hours.

Monday, November 17, 2025

I left at about 2 AM CST and drove the rest of the way to Dallas and delivered the excavator.  My next load is in League City, Texas.  That is down near Galveston.  I drove to the Daily terminal in Houston for the night.  I have a 10 AM loading appointment in the morning.
