Friday, June 18, 2010

Went to a place in Fort Collins, Colorado that makes robotic arms.  Loaded a bunch of parts that are part of a robotic arm that works on those huge blades from the wind turbines.  You know, the ones that are popping up all over as a form of "green" energy.  This thing is used in the manufacturing process of the blades.  When they put the 2 half's of the blades together this robot runs along the blade and trims off the excess fiberglass then sands it smooth.  By hand it takes 6 people 6 hours to do that.  This machine does it all in 2 hours.  I was one of 3 other trucks today picking up parts to this machine.  There are 3 more scheduled Monday.  All of us are going to a place in Grand Forks, North Dakota where the blades are manufactured.  It took all day to load my trailer so I didn't get very far.  I stopped for the night in Burns, Wyoming.

This morning I loaded up with my load of lumber and headed off toward Broomfield, Colorado.  Drove down another really great road.  255 miles from Lewiston, ID down to Boise, ID on US-95.  Lots of steep up and down and curves.  Drove for a long way in a canyon that followed the Salmon River.  It twisted and turned all over the place.  Took a few photos.  Hope you like them.

Stopped for the night in Ogden, Utah.  598 miles today.  Not bad considering I got loaded and tarped this morning.
