Got on the road at about 8:45 this morning.  No problems going around Washington DC but had a bit of bumper to bumper traffic between DC and Richmond, VA.  On the Richmond bypass, I-295, Had to stop before going over the James River Bridge and wait for the cops. My permit required that I go over the bridge with no other traffic.  When he got there he shot down all the traffic and I went over the bridge.  After I got across he opened the road back up again. Everything was fine until I got to Charlotte.  I had it timed that I would arrive at the truck stop right at sundown.  When I got to the truck stop, it was full.  To make a very LONG story short, I ended up parking on the side of  a dead end road with a couple other trucks.  Fortunately the cops did not bother me.

Friday, October 9, 2015

Left this morning at sunrise and drove to Frederick, Maryland and delivered the building.  From there drove to the TA truck stop in Jessup, Maryland. Another truck had loaded a Caterpillar 329FL Excavator and was taking it to Charlotte, North Carolina. His truck broke down and he had to leave his trailer with the load at the truck stop.  I went there to get the load and deliver it.  Another truck came down from Carlisle to take the other trailer back to Carlisle after I put the excavator on my trailer.

By the time all that was done it was too late to leave the truck stop.  Would not make the Washington DC curfew.  But the main reason is that my Maryland permit did not come in until 4:15 pm.   I will start tomorrow morning after the Washington DC curfew is over.  Can sleep in a little bit.

Thursday, October 8, 2015

Left this morning at sunrise.  Another good day on the road.  Passed a semi truck wreck.  He took the exit ramp a little too fast and the truck fell over.  Also passed another Google Maps Street View car.

This evening stopped at the Love's truck stop in Toms Brook, Virginia.  Barely got a spot to park. Had to parallel park.  You try this with a wide load that you can't see whats behind you.  Actually, there was plenty of room, it was easy.

I deliver tomorrow morning in Frederick, Maryland.

Left at sunrise this morning.  Nothing exciting or interesting all day.  Stopped for the night at a small truck stop in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Tuesday, October 6, 2015

Finally got another load!!!   Left OKC at about midnight and drove down to Minden, Louisiana and loaded a cell phone building that is going to Frederick, Maryland.

It took over 3 hours for them to load me, and my Arkansas permit had not come in, so I ran out of hours.  Could only go as far as the little truck stop around the corner from where I loaded.

Still no load for me.  I drove to the Daily terminal in Oklahoma City this morning and dropped off my trailer.  Had an air leak to be fixed. Then went and did some laundry, and then to Wal Mart.  When I was done with all that I went back to the Daily terminal to wait.

Left this morning at sunrise.  Drove to McAlester, Oklahoma and delivered the excavator.  Didn't have another load yet so I stopped for the night at the Flying J truck stop in Checotah, Oklahoma to wait.

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Left this morning at sunrise.  More rain for a good part of the day.  In Arkansas, west of Memphis, sat on I-40 about 5 miles back from a crash in the construction zone.  A semi truck hit a construction truck. There were serious injuries apparently because they landed the medical helicopter in the road to pick someone up.  Sat and waited for a hour and a half while they cleaned up the mess.  Here is what it looked like by the time I got up to it.

Here is a closer look at the construction truck.

The wrecker with the semi was just pulling away as I passed it.  Sorry the picture is not so good.  Hard to get  while driving too.

That was all the excitement for the day.  Stopped for the night at the Petro truck stop in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Monday, September 28, 2015

This morning a half hour after sunrise I left and went the 6 miles to Austell, GA and delivered the excavator.  Here is a quick video of me unloading.  Sorry, It's not very good.

Next load was not too far away in Peachtree City, GA.  Went over there to load.  As usual, things got all screwed up.  To make a very long story short, it took  hours to load the Sany 215 Excavator that is going to someplace in Oklahoma.  Not sure yet where.

Left there and drove to the TA truck stop in Cartersville, Georgia for the night.

Long day!!  Started at sunrise this morning and drove all day in the rain.  No problems at all until 1 mile before my exit to stop for the night.  Bumper to bumper.  Finally made it into the Petro truck stop in Atlanta.  Glad to be here!!!  Made it in time to see the second half of the Gator game.

This game was amazing!!   Did not expect this!!!  For a rebuilding year with a new coach, they are doing much better than anyone expected !!!!!!!

Left Hagerstown this morning timing it so that I would arrive at the Baltimore beltway right at 9 am when curfew was over. Went into the Port of Baltimore and unloaded the combine.  They use a lift that is used for moving shipping containers around.   Lifted it off and set it on the ground.  There are a LOT of these combines coming so they are lining them up and when they all get here they will put the tires on them all at once.  It is cheaper to have the crew come one time than a whole bunch of times.

Here is a closer look.

My next load was in Myersville, Maryland.  Went there and loaded a Caterpillar 320 excavator that is going to Austell, Georgia.

Left there and drove to the Petro truck stop in Raphine, Virginia for the night. No more clean truck, it's raining here.

Thursday, September 24, 2015

Started off this morning with 3 Daily trucks.  We left just before sunrise.  After a few hours the third truck had to stop for a mechanical problem.  We continued on at his insistence.  Just after crossing into Maryland on I-68 The second truck blew something in his fuel pump and was dumping fuel all over.  We both pulled into the rest area and checked out his truck.  After waiting with him to make sure he had food and stuff and that a service truck was on the way, I left.  Made it to the Pilot truck stop in Hagerstown, Maryland for the night.

I may have been first on the list but I was fourth to load this morning.  Loaded a John Deere S660 Combine that is going to the Port of Baltimore.  I backed into the loading dock.  They drive the combine in the building to the loading area, jack it up and remove the tires.

Then they "fly" it to my trailer using a gantry crane.

Then secured to the trailer and ready to go.

Still couldn't leave because my permits had not come in yet.  They finally came in and off we went.  I was running with another truck today. We are both going to the same place.  We stopped at a rest area for lunch.

Continued on to the Goasis truck stop in New Lisbon, Indiana for the night.

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Very early this morning went over to the shop at the Flying J and had my generator serviced.  When that was done I drove back to the Iowa 80 truck stop and had the truck washed.  Then had an early lunch.  Since the truck was clean I took some photos of it for you. Sure does look good when it's clean.  Too bad it doesn't stay that way very long.

From there I drove to the John Deere Combine Plant in East Moline, Illinois where I will be loading in the morning.  I'm first on the list for loading tomorrow.  I'll stay in their parking lot tonight.

Left just before sunrise this morning. I really surprised myself and made it all the way to Altoona, Iowa and delivered this afternoon.  After delivering I was pretty much out of hours for today so I stopped at the Flying J truck stop in Altoona for the night.   My next load is Wednesday morning in East Moline, Illinois.  I'll head that way in the morning.  But now it is time for.......

Left this morning at sunrise.  Drove from North Carolina through Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and finally came to rest at the Petro truck stop in Greensburg, Indiana.  601 miles (967.2 km).  Beautiful drive through the mountains today.  Went through the area of North Carolina that The Andy Griffith Show was from.  The sun lit up Pilot Mountain (Mt. Pilot on the TV show) real well this morning.

But now it is time for football!!!  I'm afraid that my Gators are going to get creamed tonight.

Left there and drove to the TA truck stop in Whitsett, NC for the night.

It took a while but I finally got a load.  Actually it is two loads.  For the first one I went down to the Daily yard in Morton, Illinois and loaded a Caterpillar D6 dozer blade and a box of parts.

The second one is up in Oswego, Illinois.  Drove to the TA truck stop in Morris, Illinois for the night.
